What should I look for when buying activewear?
When shopping for activewear, the fabric composition should be your top priority. Look for garments made primarily from natural or plant-based fibers such as merino wool, Tencel (lyocell), organic cotton, or hemp blends. These materials naturally regulate temperature, manage moisture, and resist odor far better than their synthetic counterparts. If some stretch is needed, a small percentage of elastane (under 10%) blended with a natural fiber base is a reasonable compromise.
Fit and construction matter just as much as fabric. Check for flatlock seams that reduce chafing, a comfortable waistband that stays in place during movement, and gusseted construction in leggings and shorts for better range of motion. Consider whether you need compression, a relaxed fit, or something in between based on your activity level.
At ONDU, we curate activewear from brands like Reprise Activewear, Organic Basics, and Icebreaker that prioritize natural fiber performance. Every product page breaks down exactly what the garment is made of so you can make an informed decision before you buy.
