Activewear

Do natural fabrics smell less after a workout?

Yes, natural fabrics generally develop far less odor than synthetics after exercise. Polyester is notorious for retaining a persistent stench even after washing because odor-causing bacteria bind tightly to the hydrophobic plastic fibers. Natural fibers like merino wool, cotton, and bamboo are hydrophilic, meaning they absorb and release moisture in a way that gives bacteria less opportunity to thrive on the surface.

Merino wool is the clear champion in odor resistance — many athletes wear merino base layers for multiple consecutive days without noticeable smell. Bamboo lyocell also has natural antibacterial properties that reduce odor buildup. Even organic cotton, while it can hold moisture longer, does not develop the acrid, chemical-like smell that polyester does.

ONDU features activewear from brands that leverage these natural odor-fighting properties, so your gear stays fresher and requires fewer washes — which is also better for the planet.
